Faraway Town Music Video
My Role in the production was Main Actor.
This video is Back at Square One Production's First Music Video, Directed by Charlie Read & Edited by Jack Neilsen.
It uses Indigo Kennedy's Faraway Town Track where the production takes the creative choice to look into the symbolism of Freedom and being a fish in a big pond.

Exploring CG and Live Action Integration

Before & After: Exploring Mattes - CHROMA Keying and Set-Extensions

Before and After Sky Replacement
Video One: CG & Live Action integration.
During my Third Year at the University of Brighton I was tasked to create Three VFX examples that draw from different components. To begin the process of the task there was many steps to completing the process.
By using the X, Y & Z axis I created both a floor markers and wall markers through the orientation menu as this gave acknowledgement that there is perspective for the CG. On top of this I used other tools that helped with the overall look of the project, some standouts in particular is Downscale, the Macbeth chart & Ray tracing. To add realism within the project, I used Shadow Catchers and a free add-on called Geo cables to create more depth. Another tool that was used in the production process. In the composting tab I created main nodes. One being the render layers and another being the composite. This meant that the render file gets put in the EXR file automatically as Creating a DCI EXR VFX folder.
Video Two: Set Extension
Video Number Two is a task on making a Set-Extension for a Sci-fi/Overrun backdrop that had to include Davinci’s Fusion. Within the project I used IDT/ODTs that was used to tap into a wider range of colour within the pixel/frames but then back into the the industry standard for television devices. The main improvements to the scene was keying out the University Elm House backdrop by using a garbage Matte to ensure the Elm house and the Blue screen work cohesively which is very important to this idea of immersion. Alongside this to break in further detail by providing believability for the genre of Sci-fi by building on motifs of visuals & editing in adding a film look creator, film grain and a chromatic aberration. All of these little extra addons are important to once again create further details to capture the film look
Video Three: Sky Replacement
The the video is the continuation of exploring Mattes on the function of replacing a bland sky with moving clouds and a ‘fake’ CG Sun that tracks it’s camera movement. How I achieved this was through an IDT that uses a Wide Gamut colour space and a Linear output gamma. After doing that This I created a string of effects with the sky background but to also create a underlay for the matte which uses the polygon tool. All of these added components are used to give a sense of realism in the video but also to show my knowledge of building up a node tree for a simple Luma keying. On top of that I added two glows and a fake sun by using a light ray, Prism blur, Motion Blur and Film Grain. This was an important feature to add because of the sky’s placement of time of day & weather. The effects needed to match those factors by using the nodes it creates further immersion/cohesion.
