Final Project
What is it?- TodayWithSammy
The Evolution of Technology is a Youtube video essay where I educate the most interesting or funniest advancements within technology going from each distinct era
Main inspirations
During my Research phase of the subject I looked into what worked effectively during the eras of late night and the current age of social media which their key differences are actually down to the format of the times. Late night was a stage of TV that thrived on people not being online constantly so to counter that research I looked in other places like Youtube and Content Creator, Eddy Burback’s unofficial trilogy of videos on Late night perfectly showcases what the issues were. This being Covid & the Social Media.
So for me, my final project had to be made for an online audience who could be eased into my style of video. To give it a little more structure I liked how channels such as Youtube’s Scott the Woz & NakeyJakey provided a similar style of humour & information in a precise package which led me to work more in terms of chronological storytelling. Another element I like is the Green Screen where essentially you can flex editing skills through the placement of yourself and the background you choose.

Production process
My production process was split up into two parts. The first was my Caveman segment by using an outdoor space in the Wild Park Local Nature Reserve in Brighton. Through the help of others I used the space to create a tracking shot to add some dynamic movement in visuals.
Then the main segment is in the studio at the University of Brighton where I had help from Andrew Guille where he was in charge of equipment after the initial set-up.
This main segment has both my "normal outfit" but also some costume changes during selective eras to give some visual flair as the ending of the video leaves it to become quite serious as my outfit does not change. A nice detail is in my earings of Robot and how it foreshadows my take on Artificial intelligence.

Post-Production process
To incorporate a strong and clear visual language with both a live action and a graphic segment as the intention is to break up the pacing. This then gives me a chance to flex my editing skills with objects, typography and colour management. It also provides distinction in its era.
